Why Noor?

Through its first division of core activities, Noor is committed to sustainable growth by acquiring tangible assets and producing healthy, innovative products. The company is utilizing the increasingly integrated and interdependent global environment to produce healthy foods. Noor is working to fully exploit the great scientifically and historically proven potential of Manuka honey, dates, nuts and sheepmeat and beef. Noor is growing rapidly from its twin bases in Saudi Arabia and New Zealand and is active in diversifying its products through innovative research and marketing.

As a subsidiary activity, we are involved in teaching basic biological sciences to undergraduate students. This work is associated with our second division of core activities: research and development. Here we are involved in sequencing the palm tree genome, which we expect to complete by Dec 2010. In addition, we are working to improve date palm varieties. After the successful completion of our pilot trials, Noor is in the early stages of large-scale composting operations in New Zealand and Saudi Arabia — an approach to solid-waste management that will increase our utilisation of high-quality fertilizers.
